Dunstanburgh Castle 02/08/2011

Just got back from Dunstanburgh Castle first time i had ever been there what a laugh we had. Great location so pictures had 16 fish all mackerel on dexter wedges my m8 had 7 and a coalie brilliant days sport got my winter stock sorted anyways. Only bad point was litter and the fact that i lost a huge fish had my reel clutch set tight just a tiny bit of give if you pulled hard was using 18lb braid hit a fish at the peak of high tide and something nearly ripped my rod out of my hands stripped at least 40yards of line with a tight clutch like it was nothing then stopped and started bolting towards me wound as fast as i could kept contact with the fish then it dived stripped loads more line then came off GUTTED some of the lads there were saying it could have been a Pollock or a Coalie all i no is that my heart was in my mouth at the sheer force it took off never mind didn't spoil a good day still had a class time defo going back soon.

welldone lads good pics would of said your lost fish would of been a pollock when they hit they do go i,ve had them up thier to 5 pound + great sport pity it got away.

good stuff mate, its a nice place dunstanburgh just a shame some people dont look after the place.

well done mate was up there on tuesday with my son we left sortly after you arrive had a cany day caught about 30 mackerel between us and a couple of coalie, water was a bit coloured early on which seemed to put the pollock and coalie off roll on next week off to eyemouth for 10 days fishing.

Alreet m8 were you the one i bought the day lights off just wanna say thanks for that need more anglers like you looked like your son was having an ace time he was catching more than me lol and you were just banging them out on them day lights lol looks like you had a great time i no i did.

na mate that must have been the other guy with his son they arrived just after you when you where fishing beside the cliff i was fishing just before them i left just after you arrived, spoke to you briefly before going home we both had a good day with plenty of mackeral
