Todays Comp was held at the Sunderland Business Park next to the GPO sorting office between 11am and 3pm two hours each side of high tide.
Ten hardy anglers including Last Comp winner, young Thomas Woodcock attended the Comp in freezing Windy conditions expecting a lot from the location, in a measure and release,SAMF scoring system chart.
Well all were disappointed with the end result in what can only be described as hard work.
Ian Jackson was first, into a nice flounder of 33 cms after about an hour quickly followed by Jason Pool with one of 32, " Good, they are starting to feed" was the cry. WRONG. The fish came in drips n drabs and over the four hours a total of only SEVEN flounder and ONE blenny showed up for the ten rods.
Jason Pool must have had a school of them shoaling in front of him, as he managed to pull out Four flounder and the Blenny to win by a mile, but the honour of best fish went to Ian Ainsley's 40cm Flounder.
Most fish fell to runny down and Mackeral with only four anglers troubling the scorer.
Anyway, all anglers managed to complete the Comp including Young Thomas, with the end whistle not coming soon enough.
RESULT.
1st Jason Pool 5 fish for 149 pts
2nd Ian Ainsley 1 fish for 70pts (H/F 40cm Flounder)
3rd Ian Jackson 1 fish for 40pts
4th Mick (Wey Hey) Dunn 1 fish for 25 pts
Kev Woodcock
Thomas Woodcock
Dave Woodcock
Barry Johnson
Davy Robson
Peter Chadwick
ALL FAILED TO SCORE.
All fish returned Safe.
