Early doors Roker

Having finished nightshifts on Thursday morning and a wounded body clock I woke up around 3 am on Saturday so grabbed the car keys, a cheap spinning rod, reel and headed for Roker.
I got there 4 am, just as the sun was creeping in on the horizon and there was a nice warm breeze blowing as i headed down the pier.

A lovely morning and only a slight waft of **** to polute the fresh air. luckily most of the space cadets were probably still flying in the corner of their stinking bedrooms in a paranoid stupor, convincing themselves that everything will be alright because they soon would be on their second home of summer, casting over everyone else, smoking dope, drinking and talking about the dredger thats been out all night the past few days.

A slow start but it wasnt long before the rats of the sea started to show, but thats enough about the local fruit loops and their Jamaican habbits.
i did have a chuckle at one who was so spaced out, he lost his lighter when a youngun of about 12 asked to borrow it.
He had his coat on the floor and was rummaging about but couldnt find his pockets, so in his hazy stupor, decided the easiet way to find his lighter would be to find his pockets and the easiest way to do that would be to put his coat on.
unfortunately for him, his sleeves were as alusive as his pockets.
after 5 mins he managed to get it on and give him his due, found the lighter straight away so i admired his logic before he handed over the lighter and struggled to get his coat back off.

A good few hours were had in relative peace before the 'got any daylight' brigade turned up.
that was my call to leave for another day to relax in the garden with a nice strongbow and catch, sprinkled with roasted pepper corns, mustard seads, paprika, garlic, lemon and thrown naked on the bbq:0)

Was on there myself, but didn't get down till 6am. Surprised to see about 40 or 50 on their already. Found myself a spot between the steps and had a relaxed couple of hours, and a couple of macy. Big surprise was the lack of rubbish. Everything looked clean and I only saw 1 or 2 cans of fosters all the time I was down.

Did here of a seatrout being landed too.

Fished blyth Wed, Thurs and Sat morning last week. Arrived at Blyth, never fished it before. 30-40 people already there at 4.30am when I walked on the pier!!! Was amazed, Caught 8 in 2 hours then went home, enough for the BBQ.
Have seen maybe 10 -20 at 6am down the South Gare (Teesmouth) but never them numbers before first light. Was actually still dark at 0330 on Wed and the pier was lined with people.

Cheers Boro bought the ingredients today. Got some frozen in freezer but am going to try and catch some Thursday. Will Barbie when I get in.

Mick, my brother is a bit of a chef / cooking expert... we had some yesterday and he baked them in a foil parcel in the oven, 200 degrees, 20 mins... chop a lemon and squeeze out juice.. throw the lemon into the parcel aswell... a little bit of mustard and ground coriander.... he said they were belting good!

Could always try the old Asian mix... marinade in chilli, squeeze of lemon, crushed garlic, ginger and fresh coriander... it works with ANYTHING... and stick them on the BBQ.... leave the heads on, just gut them..... fillets drop off the bone, crispy skin.... delightful!
