Early hours Roker pier

Fished the end of Roker during the early hours of Monday morning.

Fished two rods, one with a single black on to attract a live bait, the other baited with lugworm. Within an hour, I had my first Codling on livebait, only 1-8-0, but it shows it works.

That was it for the livebait rod though, as there was a lack of whiting about, but there was plenty of action on the other rod, taking 8 up to 3lb, keeping 5 of them.

Davy lad I knew, no longer with us, used that tactic many times and accounted for cod of 18lb off Rocky Islandand one of 25lb out the river Blyth plus many other smaller cod

Its a canny way to use a second rod and cheap at that. I use this method every now and again. It has not produced for me but it obviously works.
Well done Mick.
