Hi lads,
just back from fishing the Easington Open, had a look along the cliff tops at Easington this morning at about 9.30a.m and decided to fish the Bell hole looked good and there were some good rock patches exposed in between stretches of sandy beach, a light roll on the sea. At first things were quite slow first two and a half hours never saw or heard of a fish being caught. Two o\'clock got my first bite, just a couple of short tugs ten minutes later a 28cm flounder just in size. From two until four o\'clock i managed three whiting out all size but no weight to them. I guessed i had about 2lb 11oz in weight, by end of the match. My fishing partner had 1 whiting and lads either side of us had a few whiting also. I fished black lug, white rag and Peeler crab on a clipped down rig at distance, although most of the other fish were caught at various distances. Spoke to Jimmy Dobie, Wayne Harriman and Wessie and his partner, who where also fishing that area, all blanked as did quite alot of the anglers fishing down towards Horden and Deneholme area. Lad next to me informed me someone fishing Hawthorne Hive had a 8lb plus cod, a 6lb fish of Seaham North pier and a 2.5lb cod at Blackhall. Got back to the car and couldn\'t be bothered with the weigh in, on the day the tide was spot on, water coloured, however the sea had died to quickly for me and the cod had vanished quickly as often happens, leaving it open to a bit of a gamble on where to fish. Ah well it was a lovely crisp sunny day and there\'s always next time for that big cod Dream on zzzzzzzzzz Cheers ;)

i also fished the open 2 day i was fishing right next 2 wessie he endded up catching i codling 2lb 4oz and 2 flatties he came 4th.the winning fish was caught at hawthorn 10lb 4oz.i blanked again but i am off out again at 10 to nite seaham pier so i am hopein ov a fish 2 nite.

Cheers lads, codman did wessie catch his codling late on cause when my mate spoke to him he said he\'d only had a small flattie? Congrats to the lad with the 10lber that is some fish considering the conditions, it will be interesting to find out how many fished today, the beaches looked full of anglers.

jw he got his codling i think it was 2nd cast then the flatties last 3 casts.i fished seaham south pier 2 nite 10 till 0100 nothing not even a bite.

Gazzawill,
i\'ve no idea how both anglers weighed in when i was given information to the contrary? but credit to them both on such a poor days fishing. Cheers ;)
