Why do people get excited over easterlies every year.
Total pain in the a**e imo, theres no where to fish thats sheltered and it knocks the fishing on the head imo, much prefer south easterlies or northerly
just don't get this end of the season the cod have all dissipated and there is no point trying to fish for them, best sesh i have ever had from the shore was in late may, warm evening with a nice south easterly sea running i managed 13 fish to 9 1/2 lbs and my mate had 17 fish to 8lbs, better than any winter sesh i have had in over 40 years of winter fishing.
There are more fish in the sea than cod, I think that is the point (it was certainly mine)

easterly's r ideal over this end 4 places around hadston, hauxley & amble but not so much this time of year but even better 4 the razor getting washed up with the seacoal, hit it right & u can fill a bucket with razor & sacks of coal lol.

yes u r rite m8 most places do get awkward 2 fish on big easterly's but we r lucky really with the marks i posted in my above post, these marks can still b fished on a big sea because they have offshore reefs & islands that act as a buffer & makes them comfortable 2 fish in a easterly sea.yes easterlys are the right seas to get bait washed up especialy jan and feb.
but i find as original post it can be an awkward wind to fish in.
personaly i think we are luck up here cod/codling fishing all year round best table fish for eating imo, and had some great sessions in the past during april with fresh or frozen crab.
