ebay fraud warning

any you guys bidding on fishing stuff be aware of a fraud thats going on, i was bidding on and abu rx rod and lost, a couple of days later, the seller, or so i thought contacted me via email offering me the rod and asked for my best offer, assuming he had a failed buyer i responded with an offer that was accepted and sent me a payment demand from ebay, it was when i saw that the paypal payment method was replaced with western union i thought ey up somethings amiss, contacted the seller again saying sorry cant do this way,he said his paypal was corrupted and that was the only way to pay, i refused point blank to pay that way, next i got an email apparently from ebay saying as i had refused to pay my account was being suspended, contacted ebay with the details to be told its a fraud and to ignor it

dunno how the fradster got my email addy but in case any of you lads get the same or similar the email address of the bast*** is Chris Dorian <[email protected], the rod i bid on was from this seller

I had similar a couple of months ago after I lost an auction for a reel. I didn't sign back into my account for a couple of days but when I did both emails were there from the seller and ebay. I cant remember the name of the seller or the email addy but it sounds like the same scam if not the same scammer

you sure the emails were from the seller,if he was a scammer/fraudster and Ebay know about it I'm surprised he has'nt been kicked off,there feedback is'nt that bad after all,seen alot worse anyway

The reel I bid for was listed in mortor cycle parts and accesories so I thought I had a better chance of winning it. Probably part of the scam and something else to watch out for!

I have to say though, posting your email address as well as your full name and postal address on an open forum like this one only makes it easier for bastuds like that to cook up their scams in the first place. If I was you I'd edit that last post with a few strategically placed xxxxx to protect your own privacy - after all, you don't know who's reading.

The rod was very cheap at the price. I paid £120 from Southend tackle shop via e-bay for the same rod.It came without the reel seat and when i contacted the seller he could,nt do enough. In fact he sent me two and told me to keep the spare one. I did,t need it so sent it back.
I suppose its checking previous sales and anything to do with Western Union i would not touch with a barge pole.
Glad you were ok.
ps we occaisanally get e-bay frauds to deal with at work and they are a pain in the asre.

i get them all the time every time i bid on or buy sumthing i get loads sum of them say i havnt paid for an item and sum questions about items which complete twaddle as i have never selt anything on ebay i just delete them i also get emails suposedly from palpal saying my account has being used to buy sumthing an could i log in to my account an verify my details an they allways come with a link NEVER ever use the links cos the take you to fake sites that look like they are the real mcoy but are'nt all they want is your user name an password

when i know its an obvious fraud attempt i send my full details

i use a local bobby shop in merseyside for the address and also give the phone number , i then say if you are telephoning please ask for cid then explain the full details on the phone

the other one when i get the `begging` letters about son/daughter.husband etc died and theres a lot of money available for me is to do the same name but give new scotland yards address and phone number

my favourites though are the lonely since he died religious females that contact wanting to be your soulmate/partner, they always have lots of money in thier deceased partners account and want you to act as thier husband to get the money, if i am in the mood i get them to take the bait pretending that i am willing to do this. i dont even want the money as i am a god fearing man, then i say that as thier `husband` i will require sex from them, then go on to include the most kinky sex acts i want them to perform - for some reason they dont reply after than , well all except one that was game for it untill i said i wanted a pig to join in the fun , `she` stopped replying after that so i can only assume she married someone else :angel:
