I thought it was a baby wolfish. Bloke caught a big one on the boat next to me last year at Whitby. We were drifting hard ground in a compo.

I think you're thinking of Wolf Fish mate, sometimes called Rat Fish as the teeth look like a rats. They're thicker bodied and grey coloured, not seen any from the shore here but seen them off the boats once in a while, far bigger than a Blenny.

Wolf fish are also known as catfish in some parts.
