Eggerness point, Garlieston

A group of us are going over to isle of whithorn next weekend. i,ve fished that area quite a bit and know it well. looking for new marks i came across Eggerness point at garliston. has anyone ever fished it. any info would be great. thanks

Firstly its a bit of a hike to the point and to be honest does not justify the effort,its mixed ground fishing with no real depth of water,you will get the usual Dogs with the odd Gurnard and Flatfish,we were told it was good for Hounds but in 3 trips in ideal conditions we never saw one,apparently its decent in the winter for Codling but we have plenty of those this side.

Hello andrew.ive fished it a few times.dont no if you been to garleston before.its a big bay with small harbour.nice little place.you can fish the small harbour wall or walk right round the bay to other side and there is a wood.go through there and your at the point.take a fork and bucket and its great digging in bay at low water.lots of lug n yellow tails.only few inches down.in up that way in a couple weeks time.ile be fishing a place called sheddock.if yoy take the coast road from whitorn harbour to garleston about half way along you see a little cottage at fork in road with old grey sign post saying sheddock.turn right into farmers yard and farmer tel you were to park car.he nice guy ad fishes himself.you walk through a couple small feilds n your on rocks.very comftorbke and thats were thw locals fush.best mark up there mate.fished it for years.remember to ckise gates wen you go through feilds.onky five min walk.not alot of visitors no that mark but they do now lol.the farmer probly see you down there with the wife n kids later for bit fishing.enjoy mate

thanks for that lads. i was trying to get away from the usual marks of burrowhead, cairn head and whithorn harbour areas. i,ve dug lug at garlieston before but last time they were on about banning it if people did not back fill their holes.

Andrew if you cant dig at garleston anymore have a ride along to monrieth.at the end of beach theres a little harbour/village.the beach after the harbour is exllnt digging.lug n yelow taills.so just after small harbour youl see some bungalows on the front overlooking the sea n just park at road side n onto beach n digging in two mins..very good spot mate.enjoy

thanks for the help cod father. i can remember digging there years ago with my dad when we stayed at monrieth. we used to dig as we fished with some good results.
