electric outboards - canoe

Hi does anyone know anything about electric outboards?

I have a 16ft canadian canoe which we took out last summer when the sea was flat using paddles however this year im looking to use an electric outboard aswell.

Do you think it will be able to cope on the sea ? ive seen mixed reports however i am looking to buy a powerful one as i know they come in different sizes

Also what size electric outboard should i buy ?

your main consideration will be the battery and wiring.

work out how much Ampere the motor takes and how long you want to use it. Then think of the steering.

all that makes it a bit of a joke on a Kayak.

However...I bought a Kayak with an installed small electric motor and quite liked it. Makes it easier to come home against the tide and wind and therefore probably safer as well.
