Had a couple of hours out today ,met Duncan who was pretending to work hard on Warlord
and after a few minutes craic about where the fish were I left the marina sometime after 10am and headed straight out to the 6 mile mark to plot a couple more wrecks and see what was about.
I marked the wreck up on the plotter and after a few aborted drifts which seemed to be going in a different direction every time I sent down a pirk , and up came a coalie
, sent it back down a couple more times and caught some more coalie , thought to myself , put a string of daylights on and catch a few at a time and the fight will be good as they were knocking 2lb each, so down went a string of daylights and up came a string of Mackerel , yes mackerel on the 20th of November , thought they were summer fish
Anyway , don't like catching too many mackerel so the daylights came off and the solitary pirk went back down , up came a 4lb cod , followed by another the same size and then a gurnard
It was a tad bumpier out at 6 miles than it was inshore , but with the soft southerly breeze and the sun shining and cod, mackerel, coalies and a gurnard coming over the side it certainly didn't feel like November , I was back in by 2.30pm and had marked another wreck up on my plotter in the meantime.
All in all a nice couple of hours afloat
