What happened to the 8mph westerlies

Went out at 8am to catch the rising tide with all the weather forcasts saying a nice gentle westerly / south westerly all day , hit the wrecks I thought :) , and went out to the six mile line only to find the wind direction was south easterly all day and peaking at 17mph....... the fishing was pants too , plenty mackerel about , and whiting , and coalies ...... but only one solitary codling to show for a full tank of fuel and what seemed like a zillion miles travelling trying to find the fish.
I just looked up my report from this time last year and the same result was had then .... might give the longest day or thereabouts a miss next year.
Have to say though , I enjoyed my run about in the boat , better than work innit:D

Went out for a couple of hours this morning off Whitley, got nowt of the wreck,:( so fished near the yellow can but only got one small keeper. like you say, wind from south east. pleanty fish on sounder but didn't seem to be feeding:confused:. Water was still coloured, and lots of jellyfish.

Looked like the forecast was wrong this morning. Definately easterly. The water is very coloured up to 9 miles from Hartlepool.

We are having a run off tomorrow, but the wind is picking up now.

haven't been following the weather what with the skip being away but by the time the next trip comes round I'll be champing at the bit - nice one on getting out Ray...like you say much better than sitting in an office looking out the window (like I was) :D

I was also out yesterday, water was manky, plenty of fish showing up on the fishfinder, we managed a couple of sized fish, but the majority was small coalies.

I shall also be out on thursday, hopefully the water may of cleared a little compared to yesterday

Well i am going 14 miles out so if the water is not clear there i give up :)

As always will report good or bad catch but i be happy with a couple of ling each and a couple of codling and a bonus doubler chucked in :)
