in todays yorkshire post it states the eu have fined france 40 million quid for failing to comply with the 1991 fishing rules.
french authorities had failed to stop fisherman taking and marketing undersize fish, and they have to pay the fine every 6 months until they abide by the rules.
britain, denmark and sweden are the only countries fully complying with the agreement and that ireland and spain are the worst countries for exceeding fishing quotas.

lol i been boycotting there wine since they boycotted our beef :mad:

the french are a bunch o ....... they take the piss with the eu and their farmers get whatever they want - they should stop the farming subsidies and pay trawlermen to stay at home that way i might actually see a fish when i go out all day!!! (like yesterday :( )
 
what about the dutch??
Was just last year I was fishing just off the piers at Tynemouth when a dutch trawler came out from the piers.....got 1/2 mile out to sea and dropped his nets........ :mad:
 
on the one hand the french will cough up 40 million and then on the other hand they\'ll ask he EU for and extra 100million to bail out there ailing fisherman

why did we get less... cos we have a smaller fleet

why do we have a smaller fleet... cos the french/spanish said they couldn\'t compete so we we were ordered to get rid of half of ours

where to the french/spanish catch all there fish - here

why do they catch all there fish here - they slaughtered all theres by landing undersize fish and there\'s none left


what happened when they were last punished for landing under sized fish... go back to the top and start again

Correct me if I\'m wrong but aren\'t the Spainsh trawlermen being given wads of money to build these super trawlers whilst our fleet is mothballed?
Should close our grounds like Iceland!
