Having never tried spinning a sandeel in the surf what is the best way to add a bit of weight to hook end for a bit of distance whithout it doubling back and wrapping around the main line.

i use a 2oz drilled bullet.thread it on your main line followed by a bead then tie a swivel on the end.i then attach 2/3 ft of 30lb fluorocarbon then attach the hook and the eel.i find the artiffical eels work just as well if not better than the real thing.use a small swivel about 45bs if u use a big swivel the eel wont spin as good also using a thicker springy line as your hook length stops it from doubling back on its self,30lb amnesia is another good choice.hope this helps
