Just been watching extreme fishing with Robson Green,he was after a wolfish in Iceland but couldn't get one because there were too many cod about. He was throwing loads of cod back up to about 10lb by the look of them. What a lucky bar steward that man is getting paid to go fishing all over the world,I have to pay to fish in places like Roker and the Rathouse and all those other exotic north east fishing spots!!

iceland is fast becoming a recognised hotspot,

im not clued up on it but then again im not clued up on most things fishy but it seems to be the buzz word in sea angling at the minute. that episode of extreme fishing is only gunna increase the hype.
we all want to catch big fish but for me location is everything and the place seems so barron and not a very nice place to fish.
norway looks a lot better.

still tho what an amzing catch rate, even tho it will of been edited from a full days fishing those where impressive fish. even the dabs go to the gym over there.

id immagine it will take a lot of years for iceland to reach the standards of norway as far as angling holidays are concerned and probly a lot more exspensive

I'm booked up for June 20th. Didn't see the program, was it a repeat, or a new series. What channel was it on.

Canman, I suspect you are probably going across with Marty.

You will have a great time, Marty has more than likely given you the stories and you are thinking it can't be that good.
You will have a great time catching cod, coalies, haddock, big dabs as well as a few more species.

First time I went I was told stories about how many fish you catch in a days fishing and I thought to myself, no way could it be that good and believe me it was.

I go to Iceland every year now and will for as long as I can imagine as it is that good.

Norway has produced the bigger cod, the 3 forty odd pounders caught a few years back by the lads on this forum definitely put Norway on the Map for big cod and this was definitely a red letter trip as the same marks have not produced anything like the fish caught that week.
For quantity of fish then Iceland beats Norway hands down.

Hello,
I saw the programme and enjoyed it, I know that he's a bit cringeworthy at times but I still watch it.
The best part for me was when they were catching the brown trout, realy good bonny fish they were.
The worst part was the shore fishing bit, he kept commenting on how good a caster the guy he with was. I thought he was very poor if I'm honest.

Regards Ian

I noticed that, he said the guy was casting to the horizon, but to me it looked like maybe 70 yards at best. Did I miss something ?

Been to Norway a few times now and love it but will deffo be giving Iceland a go in the near future!

Not as many fish to be caught in Norway but they do seem to get a lot bigger fish there. No 40lb + fish since our trip but there have been quite a few 30lb and tons of doubles.
You always have the feeling that your next bite could be a monster and the scenery is amazing.

The videos I have seen of Iceland tho look great with huge numbers of good size cod in a session.

You will be very surprised how cheap fishing holidays are to both of these places! Even cheaper if you sort it all out yourself as we do.

Flights to Iceland are now very cheap from Edinburgh ;)

Thanks for all the replies lads. I've watched the Robson extreme now, and like you all say, the fishing looks magic. Don't know what time of year the program was shot, but it looked cold, hope it wasn't june lol.
Looking forward to it all Steve, just not sure what to bring, clothes and fishing gear wise.
