Having had to endure a week of late shift(1530hrs until 0000hrs) then the kids waking me up at 7am i decided to bite the tiredness bullet and having had 3 hours kip i headed north with a heavy "mizzle" looking to spoil the day, pulling into Eyemouth it was clear, windless and only a heavy dew across the golf course. After a quick brew on the portable stove i was off across the golf course only to be stopped in my tracks by a deer bounding across the path ahead of me, it stopped and looked at me for 3-4 seconds and than was off, if i was not to catch a fish all day then i would not have cared, that deer made my day!
Having made my way onto my favourite mark, i've called it president gut due to a ship being run aground years ago of the same name, i sent a big crab bait seawards all of 30 yards, within minutes my rod was going mental and i pulled into a solid weight which didn't budge for 10 minutes and i lost the lot, 2nd and 3rd bites were the same and being a bit ring rusty i missed them, on the 4th one i landed a lovely 2lb reddie, after that the bites stopped and after trying the spinners, shads and float fishing there was nowt doing, the sun was blazing and then the mizzle returned so i decided to head up the cliffs the top by the time i reached the top the sun was blazing, having a couple of chucks from the top of Whalt point area and only getting coalie bites i decided on the long drive home, i managed to stay awake for the match probably due to red bull and stella!
Cant wait for my next trip up to the most beautiful place on Earth!
