eyemouth and st abbs

Me and lolipop 69 decided to have a drive up to the st abbs area on tues to see what the fuss was about having never been there before.
lolipop cant walk great so the big climbs and rock marks were out of the question. started at eyemouth pier but quickly realised it was not going to fish so went to pettiwick bay....man what an absolutely beautifull place, managed to get down to the old jetty even though the path has collapsed. Water was crystal and flat, tried float, static baits and spinners...nowt!! must be too early still for it but hoped for the od pollock! Anyway left the bay pristine as it was and headed to st abbs, after a scout about decided to float fish the sea off the harbour wall. straight into coalies and they just kept coming. every cast the floats dissapeared in seconds! even a harbour seal did not put the fish off, after ten minutes he'd had his fill and left. cant remember how many we had but it was good fun and the biggest was about a pound in weight. After blanking all day it was just good to be into fish, and to be honest i enjoyed it.
will defo be back in the summer to try for pollock.

Nice report and pics mate, you just can't beat that neck of the woods. Even if you blank (which is very difficult up there) it's still a nice day out just for the scenery. Another mark up there worth a chuck and easy access are the rocks to the right of Coldingham Bay.

cheers, next time were up we'll have a look. Was going to go to torness but had heard horror stories about the chavs bagging all the bass no matter what size so did not bother.
good luck to all those who attempt the big climbs to get to "their" marks, looks dangerous!

great stuff although im not a shore fisher,im tempted with this float and spinner tactic:exclam: perhaps not so much lost gear and more going on i might just be tempted to go to dunstanburgh next sat,weather permitting yours is a great post,the sort that inspires people into trying a bit of fishing,and hopefully bringing a few into the sport

first time for me on the float too! took a bit of getting used too but great fun, sometimes its not about the fish you catch to be honest! but it helps. just being out and about in a new and striking landscape is food for the soul.

Nice pics glad yous had a nice day, in the summer its hard to get parked up in st Abbs the for the divers i know i have been there diving, 30 odd meters off the shore.
