I'm getting hooked on the Summer Cod fishing lately and to feed my addiction, I took the short drive up the coast to Eyemouth in the hope of some nicely coloured Cod with the possibility of one or two hard fighting Wrasse thrown in.
The Golf course marks looked as good as anywhere today.
Starting at the South end near Scout point I would work my way to the North if fishing was slow or my target species didn't appear.
Loads of Coalies at this mark, it's great catching stuff but they can get annoying after an hour or two, so off it was to another spot before I used up all of my crab on the little pests. lol.
Not great here this time, unless you've got a fetish for Poodlers (Coalfish). So I was offski looking for another likely place to fish.
Hard work going around those gullies and I rock hopped a couple of times before I found what I was looking for in the form of Eyemouth Gold!
Reel tuned to perfection, I cast out a massive 5 yards and waited.
The fish often take on a Golden hue here, and at their most extreme are a bright Orange, just like Goldfish.
A good one of 4lb 8 ounces was the result within minutes.
Then another brightly coloured, but small one.
Wrasse, get in!, loads of anglers hate them but I love them for their fighting qualities and would happily catch them all day long, given the opportunity.
Devastation is the time you run out of bait and the fish are still biting. My last fish on my last crab was another worth it's weight in Gold, a very pretty looking fish.
Note to oneself.....must get more crab soon, tightlines, David.
