Had first trip to the caravan this year took my gear was not expecting much this time of year. Day 1 was frustrating was getting loads of good bites but was unable to connect with anything did not use spinners as the water was a bit coloured. Day 2 was a little better managed 13 pollock all small between 6 and 8 inches long nothing using bait. Day 3 the water had cleared and was much better got down to the rocks at 6.30am started setting up and could hear lound squeaking behind me turned round to see 2 sea otters playing in the sea which took me by complete supprise and was great to see. started fishing was a little quiet to start with then caught a few small pollock about the same size as the day before then it went mad for a couple of hours caught 17 pollock all about 1 1/2lb great fun on the spinner.

nice one matey, i cant wait to get up there this year. Where were you when you saw the otters? i usually fish the golf course marks, would love to see them

Canny weekend for your first trip of the season Mark, seeing the Sea Otter's must have topped it off nicely for you mate well done.

Jim.

nice one, went down the cannons once a couple of years ago and nearly papped myself, cracking shots though when you do get down there, i liked the look of the the southern shots casting betweeen the rocky islands and have since read the codling crouch and its nice to know that that was where i should have been chucking, fell in love with the golf course marks though, found myself some cracking marks.

pity you didnt have pics of the critters but at least youve been lucky enough to see them so save them in the memory bank, those who dont get further than the back gate will never get those moments...

Well said. Remember camping near Jedburgh many years ago and we got up early to watch the otters. Saw one chasing an eel in the river, remember it clear as day now, absolutely amazing the speed.
