Summer Holidays and loads of family around...combine that with good weather and Sunderland Airshow and we had a few trips out with family members who have never fished before.

First was Mike, my brother in law from Cape Town...we only had time for a quick evening trip and crazily took the flight back just after the fishing trip and a drive to Edinburgh

The reward was a very healthy catch of cod, ling, pollack and looooaaaads of mackies. Mike could not believe how good the fishing is in good ole England...he thought it was thoroughly fished out here

At the Airshow morning I took Mikes son Hugh and Laurie Anne (in law cousin) out

it was nowhere near as lively this time but she had the pleasure of a nice big ling

No real idea of weight....😊😎

anyway...a few more pics to lift the spirits

Some good posts lately norbertbut flat seas poor fishing??total rubbish

Just my opinion and observation (in Germany and South Africa also)

I also remember a day in totally windstill conditions on the graveyard with very poor fishing.

My theory behind is that the calm and clear water makes the fish more cautious. I also think there are a lot more seals and dolphins on the hunt when the sea is calm and clear.

That does not mean that I think wind is any good, but a bit of a chop helps.
