Alright lads, had a couple of sessions at Frenchies, thurs 17th managed a flounder bout pound and a half. Returned friday 18th and had a good afternoons sport with 6 coalies to 10 pound but alas no codling. Bait used yellowtails tipped with bluey, thinking bout giving rocks behind souter lighthouse a shot at low water sunday morning. Cheers.

nice one mate, frenchies good in the right conditions, just ask geordie cooper out of the shields club, he had codling to 4lb during the week.
how do you get down to the rocks at the back of souter point? thought it was cliffs all along there?

Just follow the path around the back of souter lighthouse walking towards whitburn you will come to a few skeers and sandy bays cant remember the proper names.

as sless says that beach is the bottom of the wherry, i take it you only go round on a big tide. You can get down the front but i wouldnt recommend it although i have seen it done. that area along souter on a low water is pretty much untouched for the majority of the year because of the access. good luck and be safe, dont get stuck!

Thanks for the feedback lads if its too risky might try somewhere else, any ideas for low water around Marsden area

its fine as long as you know the tides, same as any mark i suppose.
you could go down at the grotto and go into the bays, on a big tide you can get as far as the 4th bay, again you can get trapped by the tide so watch your escape routes. the bays being to the south of the grotto towards whitburn.

Hi Gazza, you are best fishing the bays south of marsden rock on a big ebb tide and an hour of the flood, then move to the northern side of the rock for the flood, moving along the beach, and if the tide is not too big and the sea conditions ok, camels will fish up and over high water, but you will be cut off on the big tides. dont fish these shots alone (no phone signal). :)

Even if no phone signal you should get the emergency service off satellite to your mobile , always better not to need to though I think.
