First cod of the season

Got myself down near the cannons in Eyemouth for a bait & float session just using some big chunky rag from moonfleet
Started off slowly with nothing happening except a baby seagull picking up my float and trying to do off it til I pulled it back out its mouth
After a couple hours the bait rod had a big strike and I pulled this cracker in, measured in at about 50cm so probably around 3lb though I didn't have a scale with me.
Needless to say I'm more than pleased with my first cos this season

Nice one, ive already seen quite a few people lately just keeping every codling they catch.

That's a nice fish but definitely not 3lb I'd give you maybes 1.5lb if that. Either that or that tackle box is HUGE and I've never seen a 3lb fish.

Well done for catching though mate

The box is about 40cm across, measured it before chucking back and was 51cm but the weight is just a guess

The bottom one is around 2.5lb about twice as big as that. Sorry like but that's my opinion. As I said earlier though well done for catching it

You're probably right with mine being less chunky, will have to take a scale with me next time
