First Fishing Rod...

As far as I can remember the first fishing rod I ever used was a KingFisher 6ft ledger rod from Argos. Went down the Mill Dam the same day and caught my first ever shore crab, then a few small coalies. I was hooked from then on...;)

My first 'proper' rod was my Greys PZ Match, absolute delight to fish with, until a year or two after I got it, it became to soft for me, AND same bloomin boat got me line when a was fishing middle docks and pulled it over, every ring shattered...:(

Not to worry though, the gear av got now suits me down the ground, though it would have to be concidering the money av probably spent!!!:o:D

a small branch makeshift rod attached with cotton for line 2 match sticks as a float and a garden worm on for sticklebacks barnes park ;)

Mine was a fibreglass pier rod that you could make into a boat rod had those big metal rings with ceramic pink inserts. i can't remember if it had two tip sections or two butt sections and a black prince fixed spool my dad took me to cresswell kicked a couple of limpets off we caught a weaver that was around 1976 i think part of it might still be in my mothers loft.

first one ages and ages ago was shimano boat rod ...when i used to boat fish with me dad.first beachcaster was sundridge 11 footer given to me a few xmas seasons back and caught a 35 cm whiting at horden beach. with an okuma 80 impact fixed spool...the rig was 2 loops of mainline one for the sinker and one for the hook no swivels no clips nothing...have progressed abit now tho ...

my first rod was a 13ft freshwater rod shakespeare mach and abu fixed spool reel fished at church bank ,hebburn and caught a 2lb flounder and tried to lift it up the side off the wall and snapped about a foot off the end ,i got telt that a nice big softie (crab) would catch fish ,still waiting to beat it :rolleyes:ha ha did not have a clue :o

12 foot Hardy's Fibatube (?) and a green Milbro glass boat rod type thingmy. Garcia Mitchell multiplier reel and one of those Abu closed face spinning reels where the line came out of the top. Pair of wellys with socks turned over the top, Tilley lamp and a rod rest made out of wood, Souwester and a clothes peg with a bell on for a tip light. Bits of old Pit on the Seaham beaches to make a fire. Carried the fish back strung over the rod rest like Amazonian warriors - me and me Dad.

No idea of the make,i was about 10 years old so at least 40 years ago.
Newsham pond and a tiny perch, but that was the first time i felt the kick of a fish on.

Mine was an unbranded 2 piece 7ft Glass spinning rod, cork handle and chrome rings. Had a lovely action - unfortunately someone trod on it when I was using it a few years ago.
First Fly rod was a Leeda John Wilson signature rod. Still got it now:)

My first rod was a Argos 6ft kingfisher I think, Caught quite a size flatty down mill dam when I was about 12 realized the rod wasn't gonna cope I had to pull it up by hand lol. Now using a shakespear targa 12ft beachcaster. :)

mine was a milbro 2 pce white solid fibre glass 9ft pier rod baught at shepherds gateshead

My first rod was a shakespeare mustang 12ft beachcaster which i recently give to my nephew, first fish caught on it was a whiting from the rathouse

First multi was a penn baymaster, Old man got me it when I was about 12. Cracking reel, had it for years but one day chucking off blyth quay it seized solid, in a rage took it off the rod and slung it in the drink. So if anyone pulls a penn baymaster covered in barnacles up at blyth quay, it used to be mine many years ago. Ha

my first rod was a 6ft telescopic thing i bought in turkey when i was about 8 or 9.

first fish was a small coalie from blyth jetties.
