Hi, I've been fishing for about five months now at least once a week but usually twice, got all of my gear from ebay for next to nothing, got a Penn Noreaster rod for £18 and a slosh 20 and 30 for £25 each.
I truly love the sport and feel i'm ready to spend some money now on some decent gear.
Any recomendations?
I'm looking at a £300 budget for a reel and rod.

you dont need a new reel if you've got the slosh 20 and 30. spend all your cash on a rod. i'd recommend the greys platinum its a rock rod but the tip is soft enough to use in the rivers and the beaches. if the reels are a bit worn out get another one there's nothing that beats a slosh.

i would keep the gear you got and buy a half decent carp rod, a bait runner (shimano) fixed spool and some lures and floats, much more fun the way things are going and will be change from about 100 notes

check out the range, take your time when buying an exspensive rod, make sure your 100% comfortable with it.

Q,what are the slosh reels like for casting? distances?
my next buy is going to be either a sl20sh or a penn 525mag,(the 525 looks much better)

hey mate
i would go for a century rod and a penn mag 525 or a super mag or even a abu 7000
but keep hold of ya slosh 20 + 30
good reals

Have a think about looking round for good quality second hand rods....it'll stretch your budget even further ;)...IE for when you mebbes want to buy summer gear and/or waders for when winter comes back round

Slosh 20 is a great reel and a great price too :)

I totally agree slosh reels are second to non and are a very nice price, reliable as out as well aint had no major problems with mine.

I am an good caster but i have been a faithful ABU user for 20yrs.
my first multiplyer i bought was a mitchell 602 :o in 1985.(rattle and hum) you can proberbly see one in a museeum:p the slosh seems to be popular, and i like fishing at long distance, so if it can all that then i might get one. :D
