Hi all,

Its my first time out beach fishing, would people advice eithe Whitley or Blyth.

I have either one or the other to choose from as I don't have a car at the mo.?

Thanks.:D

PS It's the night of the 5th Jan I'm out.

The way the fishing is at the moment (crap) a think anywhere would do.

Blyth pier would probably be the shot as its easy access and your fishing into deeper water off the pier, which would hopefully improve your chances.

I think you are going to be sorely dissapointed beach fishing at the moment - but dont let this put you off, because when the sea IS fishing - its amazing.

Given the choice the conditions point to trying to scratch out flatties on Blyth Beach...note "trying"...but you have to be in it to win it as they say ;):D

small hooks - 2 or 3 hook flappers with lug/rag tipped off with small chunks of mackerel/bluey or even squid

Is Sluice beach ok? Near the Astley arms pub?

Blyth beach when there is a little movement, whitley when the sea is rough. The rougher the sea, the further north up Whitley beach you go.

normally in the past, i would fish whitley beach early on in the season when the seas are big, the bigger the better as the reef cuts off most of the big sea and its just rolls in. whitley is a chuck and move beach if you dont get anything, you have loads of marks next to each other, sometimes its just a case of moving 50 - 100yds and you could be onto the fish.

the north end of the beach next to the boat house becomes really bogged down with weed after and sometimes during a big sea, best to check the tide line before you start fishing. most of the marks mid point to south of the beach are best fished on the ebb and on the flood, the north can fish anytime as can the rex prom etc.

then blyth beach normally fishes after whitley and towards the back end of the season, although this year has proved to be different lol

there are always holes on blyth beach, they can shift a canny distance so you best going down at low water and having a look and noting where they are, they are mainly around the middle toilets area, meggies burn, and infront of the astley, then you get one around the band stand area and often around the groynes. again, best fished on the ebb and the flood, but there can be some nice mid tide holes that will fish over high tide.
on big tides you can see the sandbars and wade onto them and get into the fish if they are there.

as for conditions, you need to try, sometimes you can have a slight bump on, but the tide rip will pull you back up the beach, other times there can be a good sea running and you can hold bottom.
best to go and have a look.

there are a few marks around the north end of blyth beach as well.

Like Boz says...:D

the harbour mouth is usually a "guaranteed" hole due to the harbour run out...still undecided about venue myself for the coming weekend but conditions might point me to scratching for flatties in that area :)

And in answer to your question Yes there is a match this sunday with the weigh in from 2115ish...if you still fancy it pop along and have a chat ;)

beachId try blyth fella,

beachId try blyth fella,

Go For blyth, there are lots of reaseons for both venues, but you have the option of the peir, you can cast of he end straight out towords th mil boy or any where down the side of the peir and you into the back of the surf,

Thn you have blyth beach, whitch is next to seaton sluice beach and you could allways try sluice peir aswell.

that will be the breakwater at the sluice, go over the bridge onto rocky island and fish the breakwater / pier. its a canny shot over high water, but give it a miss when the sea is big.

there are loads of good marks from that point around to st marys island, if your ever wanting to go out and have a few chucks, give me shout, if im home i will go, im always around that area :D more places than just the beach, give you more marks to fish different tides and conditions.
im in the club with mr wallsendo, i work away, but if im home i dont mind meeting up for a few chucks.

lol that was what i ment.

you still going to meet me at the middle toilets on the beach to go ''FISHING'' one night this week? ;D

LMBO :D
