Went to Loch Ken with a mate yesterday , on the way up we noticed a smaller Loch frozen over and obviously a lot of snow .
Once at Loch Ken the conditions where great , well ,weatherwise at any rate . Unfortunately the Loch was very high ,maybe with the ammount of snow melt or maybe due to the Dam not being opened .

We started fishing at about 8.30 with four rods using various deadbaits in a good spread covering shallower water and two into a canny drop off .

Unfortunately the fish didn't seem keen at all and we only managed a Jack of about two and a half pound ,the bite was very slow and the fish very lethargic with no fight at all .

Anyway it was a great day all in all ,learned a new way of fishing and got to see some great wild life ,buzzards and a red kite .
Oh yeah and a great acrobatic air show from some bloke in a Prop . Norman would have loved it , well the air show that is not the cold weather fishing .

So you can be sure I'll be back for more ASAP.

Steve a few questions - first off, I read the title of this thread and thought you'd just been to China.

Then you said "went to lock Ken with a mate" and I thought it was a follow on item from the Boy George affair.

Did you get out of the car and have a slide on frozen loch?

If a loch is too high go to one a bit further down you lemon.

8:30 is that feet, meters or GMT?

"covering shallower water and two into a canny drop off" - that makes no sense and is daft

Only managed a Jack, surely you could have stayed home and done that? £2.50 an all

What prop was the bloke in?

Rubbish post Steve, please delete it :yltype:

Went to Loch Ken with a mate yesterday ,but he wouldn't let me and Ken wasn't too keen either .However on the way up we noticed a smaller Loch frozen over so out we got out and made some ice skates out of discarded pop bottles what we found by the side of the road ,my mate fell over and landed on Boy Georges turban ( which was nice )

Once at Loch Ken the conditions where great , well ,weatherwise at any rate . Unfortunately the Loch was very high so we put on our wading stilts and off we jolly well went .

We started fishing at about 8.30 thats Glen Morangie Time of course ,with four rods using various deadbaits in a good spread covering shallower water and two into a canny drop off , it was easy to drop off because they play soothing music in that area .

Unfortunately the fish didn't seem keen at all and we only managed a Jack of about 1.1 Kg .

Anyway it was a great day all in all ,learned a new way of fishing and got to see some great wild life ,buzzards and a red kite .
Oh yeah and a great acrobatic air show from some bloke in a Prop . Lord only knows how he stayed up there on a wooden pole with a big "V" cut in it.

I hope this helps the hard of learning members he he .
