thought of putting this in "cooking your catch" but it's not !!!! :)

Just came back in from a delightful meal of fish ........

but not a subject of "cooking" ...... I'm in Osaka Japan and have had my first meal experience of eating raw fish ..... wow it was excellent ....
lol roll on the mackerel season :) ..... this is a "got to experience" experience :) marinated pieces of tuna squid and various other fish served with salad and sauces....... second to none. dont be afraid of it but enjoy it if you get the option. .... maybe it's time to set up a slinky sushi .... have yous tried it?

norm :)

Tried sashimi at Hanahana's Japanese. Was tremendous mate. Saw Rick Stein Eatin fresh pollock with English mustard instead of wasabi too and it had my mouth watering, but Id read up on parasites before you start eating wriggling macky like gollum on the end of ssp! :D

Juicy, juicy, sweet ....nom nom nom

The thought of those cod worms wriggling on my tongue uughh....I'll stick to batter and a hheap of chips....lol.......enjoy your holiday Norm........:)

:exclam::exclam: ahhh sooohhhh:exclam::exclam:

trying to beat the japananese at their own game and selling some slinky shads:mad:

raw meat fine,fish no thanks:exclam:

Fished in florida last year one of the guys caught a tuna .deck hand took very thin slices off it dipped in soy sauce.refused a taste at first but was talked into it.was pleasantly surprised.
As they say dont knock it till you try it.

I'm on the side of batter and chips. Not sure if the worms you find in cod are also found in mackerel, but I won't be taking the chance. As Samuel L Jackson, aka 'Jules' said
"Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy motherf....er" :)

i first done this 20 years ago fishing the spittal hirst off berwick,the charter skipper was ex merchant navy,we hit a big shoal of coalies,they were duly dispatched,the skipper dunked them in lime juice then soy sauce and then finished it with spring onions he soaked in pickling spices,i still do it to this day off the boat and shore,its a guaranteed way to make some of the big lads throw up if they are a bit sea sick when they see you eating it:D

Looking to scale up milling the shad moulds? :)

I wasn’t well after the last sushi I ate, nothing to do with too much warm sake though. Raw oysters and mussels are even harder to like; razorfish baits, raw and still crunchy as they defrost are worth a try.

iirc raw fish has to have been frozen before it can be sold as sushi or sashimi. You wouldn’t get me eating raw mackerel, fresh from the back of the boat, still wriggling with its collection of worms.
