lost some more gear  and then a few minutes before i went caught another flounder around 10inch :) went away at 3ish, down 8 rigs and wieghts and alot of line but was still a nice day and nice and sunny aswell :)

i never fish the quey coz of the snags got told off an old fella that its discarded fishing nets off years ago. A little bit further along and your at high shaws its a lot less snagier there.

wierd place the quay, you can go down one day and not lose anything, the next fishing the same spot you loose the lot. there are loads of old ropes and a few shopping trolleys down there, suprised you get any gear back.

Happens all the time, had a couple of trips a while back without so much as bending a hook, then on the last two visits trashed five reels losing half the line or more on each one, plus a few more sets of end gear. Add to Alan's list above many lengths of discarded cable from the trawlers, old chains and no doubt a few thousand sets of gear & lost line & weed and you've got major snag city.

Only two ways to fish it really, either very close (no more than 20 yards out) or at long range (at least 120 yards or more) and generally best fished on the smaller tides. I also prefer to fish the flood up to high tide; the ebb only seems to increase your chances of getting hung up as your line gets swept under the numerous obstacles mentioned above.

Cheers, Gary :)
