Looked to be heading in between the piers then stopped not far from where we were anchored this morning for about 15 mins, we thought we were gonna get a little visit. He then circled us then headed a bit further out where the two ribs must of been launched, they flew around a bit in and out of the piers dunno if it was a sunday jolly or an excercise. Anyway one of the ribs ended up towing in a broken down fishing boat.

I assume you are talking about the St Oswald.

They do "visual inspections" and move on . The boat is the NSFC protection vessel but at saturdays meeting they agreed to lend it to the NESFC because their boat has been sold and there replacemnet has been delayed so the ST oswald will be temporarily covering the North of the tyne and the south as well.

The st oswald carries only one rib so the other must have been the beach launched one in the region as well.

It is unlikely to be doing an excercise as they are short handed atm. they will approach boats and check what has been caught and give advice as to size limits etc.

This time of year is traditionally a quiet time for them so they will be inshore more checking anglers and hobby pots men ( see my post on gear marking)

I have emailed the chairman to see if I can spend a day out with them to see exactly what they do and will report the results here.

Theres only two working inshore ...the NSFC boat and the EA boat which is concerned with migratories.

Having met the guys on land they are nice blokes and are approachable. They also speak to more fishermen in one month than we meet in a year...so may be a valuable source of information May well be worth getting to know IMHO.

I was hoping they were gonna visit us, they might of had an elastoplast I could of scrounged

I was talking to a mate of the owner of the boat they towed in, apparently they asked if there was a pub near the moorings, it must of been a long day

Call yerself a boat angler..and you dont go to sea with duck tape?

It repairs bust hoses...cures leaks...holds loose fitting in place..is effective in most medical emergencies short of a full kidney transplant...and in extreme conditions can be used as an emeregncy contraceptive but care should be use when removing it afterwards
