any thoughts lads on these new garmin striker fish finders no maps but built in gps for marking wrecks etc,

Garmin is a good brand and the new kit looks great value if they’re able to sell it. There’s having problems with Garmin's competitor's patent claims which may affect them being allowed to sell down scan units.

You’d still benefit from getting plotting software, either on a tablet or better still as another, dedicated instrument.

its on sale now for around £5oo was thinking of using it alongside a garmin 750s which is on the boat now they just seem good value especially for a garmin

I had a lowrance once and their customer service was shocking, I would trust Garmin any day. And their customer service is faultless!

I was meaning that Garmin have been ordered to stop selling there down scan as it is a copy of the Lowrence. I have had both Lowrence and Garmin in the past and been happy with the same.

i know that everyone has their choice in these matters but in my own experience i am with sean on this having purchased lowrance before and received very poor after care i have e mailed garmin and they say the garmin strikers have been released for sale in the uk as the chirp issue has been resolved.
