i dont know what any of you other guys think about this place but in my eyes theres some thing going on down there !!! I have fished this place for a number of years now and year by year the problem just gets worse and worse.

The amount of what i would call raw sewage ie tampons, pads baby wipes ect is now becoming beyond a joke.

Why have sunderland council gone to such great depths to keep the anglers away from what was one of the best fishing areas around and still is.

I notice there is an article in this months sea angler and a number to contact. Please give him a call if you feel the same to raise your concerns.

I loved fishing the docks! Don't anymore though, and I remember those f@nny pads used to put up a kanny scrap! :D

!

!

If i was fishing the docks, the last thing i would be doing,is advertising it
on here!:o
a never said we was fishing the docks we want to know the big and REAL reason they won't let anglers down there and the fanny pads you catch down at Hendon prom are not suppose to be in the water ! At alll !! So in my eys the docks have got sumit to hide and every other angler a talk to that knows that area well has said the same ! Why would the dock spend so much money ££££ thousands of pounds !! Also move there boundaries 2 mtrs further out on the first bay at Hendon prom ! Chisel away the steps that go to the gryon ? And then there trying to say there's nowt to hide .... Hmmmmmm

i fish hendon alot its not the docks stopping you its the chemical plant they dont want people on there land for risks of terrorist attack thats the exact words used whwn a lad got finned last year we will never be allowed behind there and the groin is smashed now so to dangerous to fish there is no chance we will ever be allowed on there again

they still pump raw sewerage into the sea they have said they don but do, they pump it out of the sewer pipe next to the monsanta, plus fishing behind the tanks , pensioners corner, and the lane is very dangerous as no fencing to stop you falling in and if you do fall in there is no way out

yes mate very true the docks are not safe if you dont know what your doing down there thats why passes should be handed out but are cliff tops rock marks ect ect .... when the new fence was put up a few years ago they actually brought it forward to stop you entering the gr yon that leads to the back of the tanks by them bring that fence forward you have to go on there land but where as befor you dint the path that leads from the tanks to the segue pipe to the steps then pensioners then the lane and so on is not there land on the othere side of the wall is ? should they of had to get planning permission to bring that wall forward ?? , i have herd of lads getting fined thats because they have pleaded guilty by post ? i also know of a number of lads that have tuck this matter too court and when they asked was he equipt too steel they laughed and said no to catch fish and it was thrown out. the matter was not taking any further any way the main reason i brought this up was because of the amount of fanny pads tampons baby wipes and all the other **** in the water at hendon prom is now disgusting and some thing needs to be done about the chemical plant

TBF the OP has a very good point, it's no coincidence that Roker and seaburn beaches have lost the coveted blue flag, I used to fish the docks all the time, I was down there 5 nights a week sometimes, and I still reckon it's easily the best fishing grounds in the whole of the north east, and the the way the port authority have made the place like colditz definitely has a bearing on the sewerage works down there, mind you it was as bad 25 years ago, I remember on a south easterly especially getting a lump of weed with about 20 odd tampons all knotted together, and lets face it, they shouldn't be pumping sewerage out to sea at all in this day and age, I know Andy Rutherford has been talking to the port authority about trying to some marks opened up but I think it'll fall on deaf ears especially where the docks are concerened, but look at Seaham pier, the SHSAC members have a key for the gate, so why can't the Sunderland port authority issue fishing passes again ? If they restrict access to the gatehouse at the top of high st they can then control when we can fish and when not, if they think the sea is too rough they don't let you on, and they could get you to sign a disclaimer when you get your pass, none of this from SPA makes any sense apart from not wanting you on there because of what you might see RE the sewerage plant.

Exactly mate they would make money we would be happy but the only thing is it would really cost them money because they would to get rid of what there putting in the water fact !!!

They shouldn't be putting any sewerage into the sea at all, it's a medieval thing to do, it could all be put to better use as other sewerage plants do.

simple facts of the dock access is simple enough, the docks are privately owned and have nothing to do with the council, the blokes in charge are completely anti angling and do not wish or have any need to allow anglers on the dock estate, its a case of there ball and they will kick it anyway they like, there is no hidden agenda or illegal pumping, sanitary waste will be released during extreme weather as the emergency storm drains are on the dock estate, sorry for the doom and gloom but at present thats the way it is ....

bollocks they release waste during all types of weather

they woul;dnt make money say they sold 10 000 passes that they wouldnd your talking about 500 max you need to pay security wages liability insurance if they could get it without railings i doubt they would get to make that safe would cost millions then there is the risk of people getting in the dock stealling from there causing trouble then people going on the south pier it snow balls with health and safety the way it is now that will never ever be open

yh a loved it down there too had my best bags of fish from there ! but just thought add say it really dose not make a difference what the sea is doing you always catch all that sh t in the water and looked in to it they do not need any safety stuff or insurance to allow us access we just need to sign a form of indemnity to say you enter at your own risk and you are responsible for your own actions so for some reason they do not want us down there to see aww smell aww catch any thing hmmmmm wonder why :rolleyes::rolleyes:

it be better if the docks closed down and built houses on it ,then theyd put a promenade there yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooooooooo:D
