Fishing in Norway.

One of my old mates is booked up to go to Norway soon on a boat fishing break.I was offered the chance to go but due to other expenditures it did not fit in.
I would love to go and fish in the water up there some time.
Saw a programme on Discovery channel with John Wilson ? and he was catching some monster fish.(20 lb was considered small).
The nights also do not get dark.

Another lad Steve who fishes off the Heugh and writes for Sea Angler was telling me about his trip he was going on a while back.
He was allowed to keep so much Cod which was prepared and quickly frozen. I think he said something like 40 Kilo of fish and you can bring it back.
My maths is not good but thats some fish and worth some money.

Personally a big Cod and photographs would do me fine.

Went on the ferry to Christiansand about 5 years ago on one of DFDS mini breaks cost about 100 quid in February.Roughest crossing ive ever encoutered. Set off Friday afternoon and got there saturday morn. Dumped bags in hotel ,taxi to god knows were(all arranged by my m8) and straight out onto the fjords. Even close in the cod were no less than 10lb. A totally new experience for me, but one i will never forget.

Be warned ,prices over there are not for the tight fisted.......I paid £8 a pint and a packet of tabs about a tenner.

A lad i know went a couple of years ago,as you know the fishing is brilliant. However as mentioned its very expensive, they travelled by car/van and took enough provisions with them to last the time they were there, not very practical if you are travelling by plane or a foot passenger on the ferry but worth considering

"The nights also do not get dark"
Are you sure? Is it not just in the summer that the daylight lasts right through ? If your mate is going "soon" it's going to be winter and as far as I'm aware , just like here the nights draw in and get longer and longer into the winter until it's the opposite of what you describe and the days don't get light :o
I could be completely wrong here of course ;)
But I'd check it out before booking a fishing holiday in winter in Norway!

at the southern end of norway in midwinter you'll get about 6 hours daylight tops...

at the northern end... maybe half an hour!
