fishing on the MOG

Hopefully will be banging in catch reports here come May.I know it is strictly not NE coast fishing but due to the the interest in the MOG angling amongst the members on here I am sure the mods will not object

John, if you have a read through the catch reports you will see that they are from all over the world. It wouldn't be the first time we have had reports from Australia mate ;)

Jim.

Well I'm going over there Easter weekend so hopefully can catch something to report, got all the spinning/float gear ready and stocked up on portable BBQ's.

We should be there for Easter. If you need any advice on the area just knock at van No 5 on the Clash site.We are on the top site overlooking the beach.

Can anyone recommend a campsite over the MOG that has float fishing / spinning within walking distance?

Clashwhannon has a decent campsite but all of the good fishing marks are a 10 minute drive away.East Tarbet Bay is a possability. You will have to check with the farmer to see if he still allows camping there.I drove past it a few weeks ago and he had cows on the beach.

Does anyone know where to dig rag around the Mull/Stranraer/Cairnryan area?

We usually buy some before we head off but it's going to be a challenge keeping it alive for 4 days without any fridge. We got some from Ardwell marine before but it was a rip off and you hardly got any in the tray.

We know plenty of places to dig lug but find the rag to do better for Wrasse and Pollack.

Have been informed that it is good for rag in front of Tescos in Stranraer.Hope this helps and tight lines

John

Thanks for that, will be sure to give it a go should save us a few bob if we can find some. Getting excited now can't wait to be out fishing over there.

Going to set off on Thursday the 9th, around 5pm. Fishing until Monday evening when we will set off back home. Booked in to Cairnryan house on the Saturday night to get a shower/charge batteries/sleep in a proper bed and will be camping the other nights.
