Fishing smock...

I used to have a nice Titan fishing smock a good few years back but now tend just to wear a walking jacket... I'm thinking of investing in a new smock and have had a look at the IMAX Thermo Smock or the Sundridge Storm Beach Quilted Smock... both are about the same price and was just wondering peoples opinions? Any other makes you would recommend? Ta

Depends what you want.
If you want a cotton smock Titan still make them.
They are excellent heavy duty cotton and well made.
They cost about £31 with postage.
Just look up Titan Fishing products on line.

Less than 70 quid for a 100% waterproof jacket there not warm not breathable but waterproof.

Don't bother with the storm beach smock,I had one,only had it on twice,fell to bit's
Got a sundridge marine pro smock,now that's a diff animal,waterproof,warm,plenty of room in e'm,can't fault e'm.Also have the vass mk2 blk smock,very waterproof,but not warm(wear mine in summer)Heard dodgy reports about stiching fault's etc,well had no issues wid mine

Yeah that's the one I liked the look of... £10 more than the black one! Having just spent £199 on a new Gotetex cycling jacket, my smock budget has been knocked down on the wife's orders haha

vass jackets may be waterproof same style as bassboot smock but the bassboot smock isn't a rubber type material there made from the same material that is used on tubes on inflatable ribs

Just saying that's all mate will it out last 2 vass smocks? As it's best part of double the price.

for me the vass heavy duty 350 smock is probably the best water proof on the mkt its made of nitrile rubber and is very light I just roll it up and stick in me box and pop it on when needed that's up side the down side is it lacks side pockets and insulation but I just wear a fleece underneath the problem with the others is they do not remain water proof all the time the vass fleece will I love mine great piece of kit

guy cotton for ultimate waterproofing g.no seams and neoprene cuffs . thermals and hoody under.toasty!!!!got mine last year bot 60 quid I think.they markered at trawler and yachtsmen

If you want a good waterproof look in outdoor clothing shops like go outdoors or similar, like most things shooting and fishinfg tackle companies make you pay over the top or for the name rather than the quality. Best jacket I've ever had was bought from a garden centre that sold outdoor clothing not only was it better quality but cost a fraction of the price of others

No hand warmer pockets , TUT TUT TUT , AND THERE SMALL SIZES

The Vass lightweight is very good , but deffo. summer only !
The lack of handwarmer pockets really is an issue for me ! When you cant get your wet hands out of the winter wind, even with neoprenes on.
Had to return an Imax smock...seemed really good at first glance, feels great ! But XXl, (The biggest they do ?) is seriously on the small side...try it on before buying is a must !
Also all the graphics on the arm, ( like a silk screen print.), were so smudged you could hardly read what they were supposed to say ?
Doesn't say a lot for their Quality control ?
Spoke to the guy in the shop, when I returned it, and he said they had had loads returned because of the sizing, and had started warning people before sending out?
Shame because otherwise they looked the Dogs danglies ?
