What's the lighest grade rod peeps have fished with?

Thinking of "downgrading" to a 6-12lb class rod for rough ground fishing

Also what particular brands stick out as good uns?

i have a penn rod that is 12lb class and use this for shadding rough ground bait fishing etc coupled with a left hand shimano cardiff reel which has a thumb release for the spool - loaded with 30lb spiderwire braid. absolute class and a great deal of fun.

fancy getting a fladden maxximus 10-20lb for use next year.

I never use anything more than a 8-12lb class rod, used it for over 8 yeras now and landed tope over 40lb on it.

Anything over 20lb class in my opinion reduces the fight/fun factor

this was a few years back, Ian S used a kids plastic play rod for a bit of fun hoping to catch a mackerel ..... and instantly struck into cod .
On grade of rod it must have been rated at about ......... 4 ozs !

Took some winding in mind hahahaha .........

i use a greys prodigy baitcasting rod its 7ft with a casting weight of 25g to 75grammes excellent sport with heavy tobies or dexter wedges instead of rippers 5lb cod feel like 20lb
i also have one of these rods for sale used twice mint condition £40 posted

I use a 10-15lb. class Greys longboat with a shimano tld 15 loaded with 30lb. fireline when Tope fishing and have had em up to 40lb. great sport... light tackle is the way forward in my opinion.
I remember my old dads broom shank rods and scarborough reels. hook em and winch them up and kill them all.

Thank god it's moved on from them times.
