I have noticed quite a few posts refering to buying fishing tackle on eBay. Can anyone offer advice/experience on getting the best deal, bidding tactics, etc?

Had some great deals on E-bay. (New Abu 6500CT-£40) Way to do it is watch the item very carefully, most of the bidding is done in the last few minutes. Dont get too carried away, decide in advance what your maximum bid is gonna be, wait till about 1 minute left then bang ya bid in...good luck!!!

There\'s a lot of traders you can get cracking deals from. I just bought 12 packs of hokkais for 4.99 incl postage, and 3 new fly lines for £3!
If you see something that interests, it always worth checking the sellers other items as its easy to miss stuff, and you\'ll often find an email off to the seller, might gt them to do a deal and end the auction early

1) check the sellers feedback before placing a bid, if they\'ve got a lot of negatives then skip them.
2) check the postage prices and remember that\'s added onto the final price - a lot of sellers bump their prices up by adding silly postage charges, actual cost of postage plus a small amount for packing is the norm.
3) bid only what you\'d be happy to pay as a maximum, make the bid an odd amount (ie ending in 1p or 7p) there\'s nothing worse than missing out and finding the winner bid 1p more than your maximum was set at.
4) once you\'ve placed your bid forget about it until the auction ends - that way you won\'t be tempted to keep upping the bid if someone outbids you.
5) ideal times for bargains are around holiday times when people aren\'t online as much - I won a book from 1873 for my lass, perfect condition and won it for 27p because the bidding ended during the xmas holidays.

I buy alot of my gear off E-bay and i agree with the rest of the lads,if you are intending spending a reasonable amount of money try and do a bit of research ie rrp of items,check tackle dealers else where and don\'t fall for the old postage trap as mentioned above,just remember \"what you\'ve never had you\'ve never missed it\"

One thing I have found though is that even when the item looks like a bargain it\'s still worth searching the Internet to see if you can get it for a similar price from an online tackle dealer. You have very little legal re-dress if you buy from an auction wheras you have consumer protection, a guarantee, and a returns policy from an on-line shop. It might just be worth paying an extra quid or two for the peace of mind

It is also worth changing your Notification Preferences on eBay to stop you getting spam, telemarketing, and direct mail. The default settings sign you up to receive all of that junk!
