Fishing the rivers after heavy rain

Hi all,

Just a quick question: How long would you leave the rivers before you fished after heavy rain?

I've got the day off work today and had planned to go down for a few hours but I'm going to go elsewhere.

You can still catch fish in the rivers after rain mate... The fresh water, correct me if I'm wrong, kinda floats on top of the salt water .... The main issue is that the rain tend to wash all kinds of things I to the river... Bags, branches etc. that tends to be the main issue. Shouldn't be an issue so long as our not fishing too far upriver mate. Worth a go I'd say

Fished the Walkway last night. No bother with debris in the water but the fishing itself was pants - one poxy bite in three hours until the wind picked up about 11 and i packed up and headed for my pit

The Wear actually fishes better with fresh water in.
Its the colour it brings.
I have all my best bags of Whities , Codling and Flounders when its manky.....

I went to the coast in the end and fished Rocky Island for a few hours.Plenty of knocks but only managed to connect with one. Still better than being at work!

Saw a rotten Porpoise (?) washed up on the rocks too.

Had loads of Coalies from Shields pier today. Right off end down the side. Water seemed mucky for mackerel.

0ld trick that james,for the rotten bottoms,does the job well,as does scoop bags filled with sand,or pebbles depends where your fishing.least you never blanked.ps,possibly a longer trace on r/b moving further away from your hook trace may help.dont forget POTATOES also work.LOL.

Those stones weren't there when I arrived - did hear some kids screaming later on so assuming it was them. It looked pretty bloated and was bubbling at the cracks. Maybe stretch marks?!

I'll be trying that cheers. I've got some bits of inner tube rigged up and ready - just need filling up at the mark
