An internet forum report on an angling trip onboard Whitby's Chieftain Charters Fishing boat has caused controversy after it was printed in the commercial fishing newspaper - The Fishing News. The report of an exceptional few days fishing was published in this weeks fishing news and appears to have upset some commercial fishermen. A copy of the newspaper article can be found in the Whitby Fishing forum. There are fears amongst some local anglers that this will lead to commercial fishermen calling for bag limits to restrict the catches of sea anglers. However some local anglers also agree with bag limits that could actually soon be imposed under new legislation which will soon go through parliament as part of the governments marine bill.

"Well I personally wouldn't mind seeing a restriction imposed on the amount of fish you can keep when recreational fishing. I understand they are putting a limit on it in the Channel Islands as a test bed. As long as the commercials stay within their boundaries then so would I. Anything to help protect fish stocks. no matter how small its got to be a good thing.80 STONES OF FILLET IS TAKING THE P*SS. And the comment about "Supplying the family" is an insult to my intelligence. I love fishing I have my own boat but I cannot abide Greed. I think it has raised a valid point. "
