Fishing Two Hook Rigs Into Rough Ground

when fishing is hard , rather than chuck out a big bait on a pulley do you lot ever fish with a multi hook or "scratching" rig just to see whats about , into the rough ?

I am talking here say a two hook flapper with small hooks and baits and a rotten bottom weak link ?

prehaps some of the match anglers do this up your way ?


for picking up small fish really is what I mean ?


course you are gonna lose rigs compared to say a pulley but sometimes its a long wait hanging around for the big fish to pick up a big crab or squid bait on a pulley pennel

hi mate when fishing a match i would be fishing a rock mark for 1 fish anyway so im prepared to sit and wait i also would hate to hook a fish on 1 hook and the other come snag up. im all for 1 bait 1 bite and hopefully 1 fish on rough ground. nothing wrong with smaller hook and bait and go for a bit more distance.

When i went fishing with Insano he used two rods. One had a tree hook flapper rig on cast out 30 yards with small mackeral worm baits. His other rod had a pennel rig chucked right out.
The three hook flapper rod never stopped.
When i go now i use this method all of the time. Its a lot more interesting than staring at one rod when bites are few and far between.
If its rocky i will use a rotten bottom.
