Been thinking about getting a beefy fixed spool and loading it with 30-50lb braid to fish rock and kelp. Will the fixed spool stand up to it or is it multiplier country? I just want some shiny new stuff to be honest but dont' want to waste 80 quid if it wont work..

Ta lads

Why wouldn't a fixed spool work ? If you buy a decent enough reel it will cope with just about any situation I used my big fixed spool down sluice the other day on the rocks because I couldn't be arses to change lines again it coped fine without any glitches.
Fast retrieve and strong as an ox.
If your going to use the reel in the low position I'd recommend a cannon clip for casting saves the fingers getting cut or stinging on a cold night

i believe someone mention about the shimano long cast version baitrunner havr the heat retrieve approx 111 per turn, but i am unsure about there reliability , however anythig with shimano written on it is good. an ultegra aerlex biomaster should do the job, the lc version just have just a better retrieve per crank

Nice one, cheers lads. I just wasn't sure if you could get the same pulling power (particularly when fast) with a fixed spool. But if it works in the Sluice then that's good enough for me. Shiny stuff for me

u will b better off with a braid around the 80lb mark m8
i use 80lb braid on a multi on all the rock marks from tynemouth - beadnel.
80lb braid 80lb trace body with 40lb amnesia snoods & 30lb mono rotton bottom.
