I know about the other one too but this is a lot cheaper if it does the trick.

works fine, it replicates multiplier style release. as long as u make sure the drag is tightened its absolutly fine. i have it taped on to my tt sport in the reel down position , . no bother with my thumbutton so far

Same here. They are great when ya using braid. Takes the fear of slicing ya finger off away. Braid will cut through it if you don't lock the drag down though.

Learnt the hard way with braid myself :(
Almost ripped all my nail off when line got caught under it on a big cast...bled for ages, but still kept on fishing like!

I have never used one of these...however I might get one next time

Next time might be too late.
Finger may have had a size reduction by then.....

I ordered a proper one anyway yesterday but have just been out with a leather finger stall on.
and the satisfaction of knowing you can put more effort into a cast is great. I'm still not giving it the best though, pretty sure a cannon release would give me better results but it's put a good 15 to 20 yards onto my cast in the meantime.

I can hit 60yds now :red:

I prefer a glove , i get away with the thin black ones that brickies use and im using braid from 30lb/80lb leader to 80lb all the thin whiplash stuff, tried the cannon and other thing found them snatchy.

I use a glove as to be honest never knew there was a cannon adapted to FS, never seen anyone use one either.
I will be trying one next time I order

Bought a Cannon for use with braid but couldn't get away with it, maybe cos I have small hands. I ended up taking it off and going back to a Korda finger stall

i bought a cannon, tried it on a carp rod with large fixed spool first. took some getting used to especially as it sits where i would grip the rod and reel while reeling in. it was snatchy at first but once i got used to it, it the cast flew of smoothly and quiet.

havnt tried it on my beach rod yet though.

Hiya Ken.
That was the 1st time I saw the metal spool since I loaded it.

TBH Mate I didn't give it to many beans as it wasn't one of my rods. As regards to what you said about people saying they were a crap casting reel. Well fair enough it ain't in the same league as the 525 Tournamag I usually use but seemed to go out O.K. to me :)

Aye and it's a level wind too.
hopefully down the Spiles tomorrow. Will let you know

Got my proper Breakaway cannon today.
First point of note is that it wouldn't sit back on the rod far enough so that the little knob is behind the rim of the spool. Had to do some jiggery pokery, build up the rod just after the reel foot to accommodate it. No big problem though.

It does take a few tries to get it working properly. Instead of releasing the line with the finger by relaxing the finger, you have to pull the trigger, sort of the opposite action fro normal.

Anyway, got it working smoothly and I feel confident in giving the lead a bit more whoosh in the cast.

I didn't have anything to measure the distance casting off the pier but it did appear to be a longer cast and it was certainly a hell of a lot more comfortable.

For what it's worth, I bought one of the leather finger stalls some time ago for fixed spool use too but the leather is almost worn through already so the Cannon should save a few quid in leather as well.

If you don't know how they work take a look at this.
