could anyone recommend a good and reliable fixed spool reel looking to buy a new one so any advice would be great

depends on what you are prepared to pay.
me and a couple of pals use shimanno exave 7000s and they are the dogs doo daas.
bit pricey but worth the extra coin. imho

what sort of fishing will you be using it for? lures, spinning, estuary/river, light shore, clean beaches, mixed ground, rough ground,

all require diffrent sizes and reels etc
