Fladen Maxximus - 2015 model?

The new range of Maxximus Solid carbon-rods from Fladen Fishing gives you a very thin and light blank with extreme lifting power while still maintaining an incredible weight to strength ratio unmatched by tubular blanks. These solid blanks have perfect tapers that give you the power and action you want for specific techniques you are looking to employ. There are two series in the range, both with component parts from American Tackle. The top series Maxximus Solid Carbon Pro consists of three 7’ models all painted in a striking blood-red color with quite possibly the best sal****er guides on the market, American Tackle’s Ring Lock Virtus Titanium guides. They are half the weight of stainless and will never rust. The 2 piece 20-40 and 20-60 lbs come equipped with Fuji reel seats and the 1 piece 60-100lbs comes with a heavy duty American Tackle machined aluminum-reel seat and matching gimbal. The STS series of 9 different rods are painted in a bold deep blue. This series consists of light to heavy sea fishing models for trolling and boat spin. These rods utilize all stainless steel guides from American Tackle and a tip guide with their famous Ring-Lock ceramic guide which will extend line life by decreasing friction and heat buildup.

I've no doubt Fladen's new rods will be top drawer but their budget price is somewhat of a concern. The original "grey" solid carbon blanks were great but over time the rings did let them down. However, when they launched their Fladen Blue and their flagship Fladen Orange solid carbon range they addressed the problem by introducing Fuji stainless rings with (SIC) silicone Carbide inserts.
In my opinion, Fladen will be hard pushed to better their Blue and/or Orange range but hey, let's keep an eye on it.
I've not heard of American Tackle or their guides and they only refer to their ceramic guides as "possibly the best" sal****er guides without being too specific as to the actual insert material.
The sales pitch of their stainless rings being half the weight of Fuji rings means nowt in the scheme of things, it's the hardness value of the insert that counts especially when using braid. (Silicone Carbide is 9 in the hardness scale Diamond is 10)
I always use Fladen's and perhaps I'm just being sceptical but for the price, it would be great if they've actually brought out a new range that betters their previous Blues and Oranges.

I was toying with having an old grey maxximus rebuilt with better guides, I also have bother with the reel seat sometimes so was also thinking about a Century Excalibur Braid (bit pricey). Think I'm gonna hang fire and see what these are like.

Totally agree the flaxen maximus are great rods. Hopefully the new breed are as good or better.
Rings and whippings can be replaced every other season, as
Long as the blank and the winch fitting are the biz. Just my opinion. :)

keith I had a new maxximus grey 20-60 stripped off the rings and had it rebuilt with new Fuji alconite guides that are on the fladen orange, stan (fish fingers) build, top man.the only niggle was the tip ring we had to use a size 8 instead of a 6 as the bore size for the fladen orange is only 2.5mm as opposed to the grey which is 3mm. but all said the rod handled perfectly and looks the biz with with orange whippings.

You got any photos? Stan does a cracking job.

which one did you go for Bert?
I might get the 7ft, 15-35lb class.

But i'll have to sell one of my grey 20-60lb maxximus's and TLD 15 to fund it!

Keith, I believe there are some issues with the single leg rings on the century rods although they won't admit it, i know its a massive concern to them.
IMO get one of the Diawa braid rods, top class.

Thanks for that mate, think I'll hang fire and see how Bert goes with the new Maxximus.
