Hi All.
Where in your opinions would the best plaice(pun) be, between tyne and duridge bay for a couple of hours chasing these monsters of the deep. Seeing as my winter was complete fiasco I though I might try some sport fishing.
Armed with mackrel, crab and rag, all info greatly welcomed and even company if you fancy a bash.

river tyne, british airways carpark.fish 2 up 1 down .rag tipped with mac. 2 hook flapper, if its windy can be a bit of a pain.loads of flatties,

Most of the beaches should sort you out, Druridge, Cresswell, Hauxley, Warkworth etc. Fish over low water, worm and fish baits, longish snoods and leads as light as you can get away with to let it move about. Don't chuck too far, vary your distances til you find them. Twitch your baits back and leave for a bit. Bring your baits back slowly as you'll often get a take on the move.

If you've got braid give it a try, helps using a lighter lead and shows up the bites better. Don't over gun just use a bass or spinning rod. Maybe try a second rod a bit further out. Good luck.

Tried Blyth beach, at the sluice end at high water from the breakwater, 2 rods 1 long with fixed lead, 1 short with rolling lead, sand eels, crab, mackeral for bait, very light and small hooks. Just to try out the tackle.
Had some strange bites which destroyed the sandeels, but never managed to hook anything.
Non the less, going up to duridge through the week to fish it at lower water, but don't the area that well, do you park at the nature reserve, or at the south car park, or is it just go up and have a look and take your chance.

Fished Sluice yesterday morning there for 9am.

Fishing was difficult, there was a bloody big Launce stalking the sand eels and making the little coalies nervous. Tried spinning for it with a small shad and then little gold toby, didn't work so switched to a sandeel with a bubble float and gently jigged it past, that didn't work but it did catch me a nice flounder!

There are loads of sandeels and little coalies popping in and of the harbour mouth at high tide, but i'd time it for a tide when the little children in wet suits aren't running round like idiots and jumping into the harbour mouth!

try the river blyth. turn off cowpen road at lord tool hire and the big car wash. drive straight down to the river turn right for about 100 yds.park there. cast about 40yds using crab bait. fish 3hrs after low tide to high tide. some big flounders here.
