just hada look at anyfishanywhere estuary rod but i know thats out my range:confused:

Mick, I have a couple of Carp rods I use for light fishing, they are great sport.

I use them for flatties and Whiting off the beaches, once caught a 2 1/2 lb Codling on one amazing fun mate.

Have a look around till you find one you like the action of first though. You can get one between £30 and £50 no probs.

Jim.

I like the sound of a carp rod myself....may treat myself when the missus aint looking.

My beach rod does the biz - but it's a bit of a broomshank when it comes to fishing for flatties

It wasn't my idea Tony, Mark put me onto them ages ago. As I said though, have a look around till you find one you like the feel of as some are like a warm stick of Liquorice lol.

Jim.

see if there's any Daiwa sensor carp rods going anywhere, I've seem as little as £30, good all rounder and can hurl a 2 or3oz lead a long long way!

Shakespeare odessa flattie and bass rods are ment to be ok for the price, the flattie rod is a little lighter 1-3oz where the bass is 2-4 i think.

I've got a shakespeare Targa spin, use it for flatties in the summer and it's quite canny, throw a 2oz weight a reasonable distance, action on the rod makes any flatty a decent sport to play in.

Just bought my son his first rod&reel combo, just the £20 Keenets spin set from argos, gave it a try on the pier last night and I can chuck a spinner a fair distance with it - I wouldn't call it a spinning rod though, it's 9' but quite thick and more like a pier/small beach rod. Sam got his first mackeral on it within minutes and both rod and reel did the job great, probably also be ideal for flatties.

are you mick cave as well lol

haha thats wot i was thinking, well i never got round to havin a look 2day, so it will be 2moro now, most probs be shakespeare salt flattie or a carp rod cause im not spending a arm n a leg for summit i will only use a a dozen times or so

hi mick my name is mick cave 2

Try a conoflex assassin, I use mine for flats, spinning for Pollack and plugging for Bass - its a really versatile rod.
