Float Rod

Looking to buy a float rod around the 12ft mark, nothing expensive and there's loads of coarse rods on the auction site. What should i be looking for? Carp/Pike/Waggler etc. Really looking to land a decent sized Pollack at some point and want it to be able to handle that and chuck a decent weighted float set up.

I use an 11ft Shakespeare bass rod , casts 2 to 4 oz and handles 4 macky at a time no problems . combined with a 35grm float outfit , its pretty damned good for £ 20 .. used to be £40 ...

I use carp rods for my float fishing and light beach work, look at rods in the 2 1/4. To the 3lb test range , there light enough to enjoy the fight of a macky but got the power to handle larger fish

i use a 3lb carp rod for heavier float/lure work.

and a 11ft spinning rod for lighter stuff.

Carp rods are a bit heavy to hold for a long time.
You would be better off getting a 12ft Barbel rod around 1-1/4lb test curve.
I use the "Classic" one of these with the Avon tip for float fishing the shrimp for Salmon.

Light enough to hold all day and plenty of power to land big fish.
I,v had Salmon to 20lb on it.
