a do have sympathy for the part's of the country down south, being hit by the massive flood's,

but it's not that long ago that these part's were being swept away,

and the government wer'nt offering open cheque book's for our area's.

yes, this will cause different opinion's, as do most topic's.

but a feel there's deffinately a "north/south" divide.

hope a haven't caused any offence.

I agree entirely.

Where was the army when this area was flooded?

How many VIP visitors did we get to look at the flooded areas?

Where was our open cheque and the promise of compensation to those affected?

The answer to all of these questions and more lies in heartland of Tory voters. Why would the government bother up here when they can't get very many seats?

the closer it is to election the more generous evryone is. 24hrs after election the chequebook gets snapped shut while new pockets get lined....

Yep ya right mate im sure there is somw people from down south who are shocked by whats been said on here lets face it we get weather like that every bloody year whitby is prone 2 flooding less than alot of places up north east coast........ still nowt will change.

Did anyone catch "Question Time" the other night? It was very good with the recent flooding being the main talking point.
A bloke in the audience raised the question of a North/South divide whilst another woman challenged the panel to name the village that was worst hit by Decembers floods in Humberside, (where a farm lost 700,000 hens and other livestock).
Not one of the assembled politicians could name the town, South Ferriby. It was great watching them squirm and fudge their answers.

flooding

will the compo money be raised by actually charging the likes of macdonalds and stobbarts any sort of tax instead of nothing as it seems tories are no different to labour when it comes to party donations hush money

I do remember a certain Tory MP slagging off the North East a few months back about the fracking saga. I bet that MP buys a holiday home in Northumberland now lol. I was up there this morning it was beautiful. But good luck to them down south and a big thanks to the lads from the armed forces for they help. The NorthEast jewel in Britains crown.

at the end of the day we wouldnt get any more than a few seconds worth of a slot on the national news if the flooding was up here but the fact its down south it is the end of the world! its about time the southerners had something o worry about! cant believe they are all entitled to £5000 grants no matter how well of they are to build/re build storm defences! absolute joke!

Overpopulated and all built on reclaimed marshes and/or floodplains...little wonder they're knee deep in it now

The tree huggers are partly to blame for not wanting to harm the lesser spotted water flea or whatever but so are the EA for gross mismanagement

Worked on a persimmon site called stella on the wasteland down river tyne blaydon ryton area. ALL the houses are built on the flood plain of the tyne how much you think house insurance with be if can get any at all !!!!!!!!

cheer's lad's, am pleased with your opinion's
watching the news now, a really do feel for these people who have been flooded.

just really pi**ed off,
where were the armed forces, royal family and mp's promising open cheque book's of aid when the historic town of morpeth was washed away.........?

I see the govt gave set aside 10million to help business who have lost stock, trade etc. Like 10millions going to make a dent.
Hardly an open cheque book or money's no object.
Stop the international aid and look after the UK tax payer and business who need help today.
