nee botha lads i mite just have a mooch at dragoncarp . might get some tippet n practice the knot to start wit . my wf9 does not have a loop but the dt7 does. any ideas why they are differe3nt?

was advised that advanced camo line 12lb would make good tippet line by guys in fishing shop. h+ope i made a good purcHASE for my tippet line choice

You can really use any line you want mate it's up to the individual, but as mentioned earlier in a few posts, around 6-8lb flurocarbon is best as you don't want around 8ft of thickish line attached to your small flies n nymphs.
If your only lure Fishn then it won't be as bad but I wouldn't with the likes of buzzers/nymphs

an 9/10 weight is probably a bit heavy mate it would be ok for turning over large lures on somewhere like the derwent but will be no good on a small water Ill bet most of the lads who have already posted are all using 6/7 weight rods and a few 8w . to start off with a wf line will be better than a double taper (dt) and the most important thing to remember is to let the rod and line do the work for you the miniute you put any force into your cast it will end up in a heap at your feet keep practicing even when its windy and you will pick it up in no time no better feeling than a nice plump trout pulling your line out beware they fight hard and you cannot just haul them in like cod

spot on mate, 4-5# and a 6=7#thats all i use, no good being too over gunned, also to the o.p using 12lb line is not going to get small flies, buzzers etc to turn over correctly, best going down to 6-8lb bs,

Sharpley will almost definately be affected, it will be cold and hard.

Foxponds is that small it should not be affected and you should still manage at least a few takes/fish.
If you you are new to fly fishing then i would suggest giving foxponds a try, it will be easier for you.

i received the flies u tied in the post today, i m truly shocked by ur generosity and kindness but more importantly i am now truly inspired to give fly fishing a proper go . hopefully i get skilled enuff quick and am also able to try the durham free stretches. once again thanks so much for the flies.
