caistron is a top water my first choice also hope to visit a couple i've never fished like langley and waskerley,
heard rumours sweethope might be getting sold/leased to a private club so no more day tickets a shame as it was a cracking fishery
i heard that about sweethope as well Dave mate, dont know if its true or not though

Derwent for me but i,ll wait till after my Norway trip late March.
I,m also debating wether to renew my Salmon licence.Fished the Wear at Durham quite a lot last year and only had couple of tiddlers on my fly rod. The Salmon rod did nothing.
Use of lead lines is common and tube flies. But it looks more like ripping on a boat to me and its not my idea of fishing.
Much prefer a quite bank on my own.

Chatton for me, I have never been but I have been told that it's good.
I've had a go with the fly before but didn't realy put the effort in that I should have so I'm realy starting from scratch, with that in mind any advice is welcome lads.
I plan on giving it a go when I'm up at the caravan at Seahouses before the Summer codling fishing picks up.

your a glutten for punishment fishing in them empty ponds lol
well fished them empty ponds yesterday and things were slow till midday then it went crazy took my limit in about 20 mins then about 4pm the fish switched off and that was it all fish i caught were stuffed with small fry and took a grey zonker my dad and brother fished the bait lake and had 4 fish each all around the 2lb mark .

Ronnie and myself decided to give Langley our first visit of the season and we were'nt disappointed.
As we are a couple of old f@rts who can't walk very far we rang Fred the previous day and booked a boat, pleased we did as at one stage all the boats were on the water, shows you how popular Langley is getting.
Fishing
Started off in the weedbed area and I decided to kick off with one of Mr Tuck's Brandling Worm patterns, 3rd or 4th cast and a fine finned bow of 3lb gave me a real old struggle but it was finally netted and dispatched. Ronnie picked one up on a Cats Whisker about 15 mins later so we were both happy a blank had hit the horizon.
We decided to explore the area near the "gate" and after 20mins or so the fish came on, two brandling worms went on my cast and after starting a retrieve I was stunned with a monster hit, my line went into the backing and I was getting the old twitchy feeling. Two more good runs then the fish was netted and when weighed in it was a very respectable weight of just over 9lbs, my best at Langley to date.
Off to the dam wall area for a bit of shelter as the wind picked up ( who gives these forecasts) and we settled down for a well earned cuppa and a bite to eat. (NO pie's Andy )
After starting up again Ronnie also put on a Brandling and then it was hectic, fish each at the dam wall then off to the bottom bay, the fish were ambushing our fly's and we both had quite a few drop offs next to the reed beds.
We intented to fish 6hrs but after 4 we were highly delighted with our day at Langley and decided to call it a day, my three fish bag weighed in at 15lbs and Ronnies bag weighed it at 9lbs, all fish were in excellent condition and they fought like trojans.
All in all, Langley ( Ben ) has got this place buzzing and it won't be long before we return for another session at a very nice fishery
