For anybody who fished the Amble Summer Open

Would you still have fished our comp if wrasse had been excluded from the weigh-in?

I'd like some feedback on this please, I'm going to try again to get wrasse banned from our club and open comps, and I'd be interested in how everyone else thinks.

Cheers lads and lasses.

as i catch plenty in the summer months and return them all i think they shud not be a fish for weigh in after all who eats them

i would still have fished it tony m8, i got a wrasse for 4 1/2lb that day & weighed it in but would rather have let it go great fighters wrasse but that all they should b left 2 fight another day.

i came 4th but if i had caught a wrasse it would have gone back no point killing fish if ya cant eat them just my view,s ban them from all local opens , cheers jamcod

Yes. Take them off the specimen list. Hope your club and others take action for future competitions and wrasse aren't needless'ly killed. All for it .

I didn't fish the open but i would still have fished it even if wrasse have to be put back and not weighed in. there's loads more fish you can go for to of won the open.

Personally i don't fish matches or opens i think would be good idea. Is there an open in S W Scotland where anglers where weighing in large bags of dogfish so they changed if so they could only weigh in a few

not really sure of the rules in ths comp lads but it would appear Wrasse are slighty akin to Mackeral. Pretty easy to catch but you do not eat them.
Any match i have fished it has been catch and release--i cannot understand why we need to kill bags of fish to win a compo. I suppose the few comps i have been in have been very well "policed" ha ha. The scoring system is accurate as there are plenty of competetors and stewards.
If your miles apart it is more difficult but then thats when i think underhand things can go on. Maybe just mt supersticious mind.
In a big open where a bag has to be wieghed i would ban Wrasse-why kill fish if your not going to eat them??.
